Madeline The Great

Music: Brazilian Girls.  Saw them at Lollapalooza and though I am pretty sure I saw the lead singers cooter (short dress-no underwear+lower vantage point= totally not awesome) I rather enjoyed it (the concert not the cooter).  Anyway I totally forgot that the week after Lolla they put out a new record.  I downloaded it today and feel really swanky and 50's electro-groovish.  I know that I am making up words here but whatever.  Listen to any of the songs from their new record NYC or their old one they rock.  Fav song: Pussy.  Its about how you can talk about sex and pot in any language and its the same.  Which is something I am sure that we all can deal with.  

This Brazilian Girls revolution has brought me back to Vampire Weekend.  I saw them at Pitchfork and they were adorably nerdy.  Anyway I wont go into how much I love their early Beatles sound just check them out if you already haven't.  

Next week is exciting for I am going to see Bad Brains a band that is pretty much everyone else's Madonna.  What can I say I am a hardcore punker.  Whatever.  The sad thing though is that they are only the intro act to N.E.R.D. which isn't one of the things that I would willingly listen to.  (Not a hiphop gal unless its ass shakin time) But the concert is being put on by Converse so I am hoping for the best. 

Also check out April Smith.  I have been listening to her for a while now but she is going to be propelled into superstardom very soon.  Apparently, she has been featured on Perezhiltons blog and that usually means GINORMOUS star immediately.  Anyway, she is a cute singer-songwriter type.  Very sweet and awesome.  

NEWS!!!!! I love M.I.A. I will admit to never knowing who she was before the Pineapple Express Trailer.  Yes, I am one of the people who jumped on the bandwagon but I am sure as shit glad that I did.  Anywho, she announced at Bonaroo that it would be her last concert.  FALSE!  She has come out of retirement due to her massive success after being featured in the trailer. HOOORAY!

Movies: I am sooooooooo behind the curve on this its not even funny.  I finally saw Wall-E.  It made me squee like a typical girl and made me experience all of those squishy warm feelings that you have deep down inside.  If some single dude reads this (and if you do why dont you ask me out) and you have your eye on a lady.  Take her to see this she will love you for it.  

Also saw Chaos Theory with Ryan Reynolds.  Words cannot express how much I love Ryan Reynolds.  He is GORGEOUS and a good actor to boot.  This movie was amazing with all the Reynolds-ness aside.  Again with the squishy feelings and such.  This is a movie about life and getting through it.

I guess I should put this here.  One of the people from one of my favorite shows ever, Pushing Daisies, did this hilarious video that mocks the tv show intervention.  WATCH IT!
